ALANA FAIRCHILD: DIVINE WISDOM FOR EVERYDAY SEEKERS AND CELEBRITIES

By Nicole Fuge

Some people seem to carry a little magic wherever they go. Alana Fairchild is one of them. An Australian spiritual teacher, writer, performer and creative mystic, she has spent decades helping people tune in and reconnect with themselves.

With over 55 published titles, oracle decks, meditations and albums to her name, Alana’s work is less about labels and more about the quiet, transformative moments that change how we feel, think and live.

Her approach is eclectic and inclusive, weaving together wisdom from multiple traditions to help people navigate life with clarity, compassion and courage. The Divine Feminine flows through – softening, empowering and reminding us of the love and strength we carry within.

SHE CAME into thE world with lights switched on

“I always felt this presence of spirit, which I just felt was pretty normal, and it wasn't until I was a lot older that I realised that was something not everyone had in the same way," Alana says with a smile.

From a young age, she sensed she was slightly out of sync with the world around her and “that I was supposed to be living a life that I didn't really understand”, and it’s only now that she’s able to fully articulate it.

“Recently, I found out that the planet Venus moves in a different rotation to the other planets. And I thought, I can relate to that,” she says.

“I always felt slightly out of beat, sometimes a lot out of beat, with the way society functions. I think that kind of fuelled my introversion as well. All this creativity and strength of that interiority, and the kind of relationship that I have with the spiritual world really bloomed because of that.

“So the thing that didn't fit allowed me to strengthen in a way, which is not what I expected.”

After “inelegantly stumbling” through Australia’s highly left-brained education system, including completing a law degree, Alana began to understand how to communicate her inner world outward, and in her twenties this ability really found form.

“It [studying law] gave me depression as well as a degree ... I healed the depression and kept the degree, but it taught me how to use left-brain in a way that I wouldn't have otherwise done,” she says.

“And I think that was the point, where I became able to communicate it, to bring it out. It was always there, but that’s when it really started to feel like this is something that I could do, or that I could share and express – and there was a method.

“I could write, and I could sing, and I could create spaces and communicate with people about this kind of inner world, and how real it is – not only for me, but I sense it real for everyone.”

take up more space

It seems more and more of us are opening our hearts and minds the notion that there is in fact ‘something’ out there. That we need to trust the universe (or whichever creator we choose to believe in) and know they are guiding us every step of the way.

“Over the last couple of years there has been quite an explosion in interest in this sort of alternative thing, that used to be so fringe when I first started like 25 years ago, more than, and now it's just considered this slightly edgy cool thing for a lot of people,” Alana says.

And so for those who are beginning their spiritual awakening, feel curious, stuck, or want to elevate their energy, Alana says the place to start is “space”.

“If you ever hit a wall, an obstacle, you feel like you're just not taking that next step that you want, more than likely you need more space. You need to open up more space,” she says.

“For women, especially modern Western women who are just phenomenal jugglers of multiple things, we just ‘do’. Having that sense of permission and recognising there may be guilt around it, there may be fear around it or anxiety or even shame, feeling like I need to take some time for myself or some space for myself. I think we're getting better at it, but we're still not really that adept at it.”

From there, it becomes about meeting yourself in that space – whether that be through rest, pulling oracle cards, or meditation. Alana believes our souls carry plant-like qualities, and given the right conditions, they know exactly how to grow.

“There is this wisdom within that's not as hard to access as what we think, but we do have to be willing to create a little bit of space and – at least as our own personal development is concerned – surrender some control. It can be very hard,” she says.

INGREDIENTS FOR The soul

Our beautiful souls aren’t built for sameness or autopilot living. They need authenticity, space to be different, and the freedom to change, alongside a deeper connection to values that actually mean something to us.

“It needs authenticity. It needs permission to have difference. It doesn't thrive in the same, repetition compulsion. It gets bored, gets frustrated. It's an organic thing, so it needs change,” Alana says.

“It also needs a sense of connection to something that has value. If we don't connect with our values, we tend to just adopt societal values and honestly, they're kind of rubbish. They don't tend to feed the human heart or mind.

“They're really more about acquiring real estate or whatever. If that's your thing, do it. But if it doesn't fill you up with joy, if it doesn't give you a sense of deep meaning, it's not going to nourish your soul.”

Alana says our souls also thrive on attention, but not from others, it craves our own attention. Journalling, time in nature or even a five-minute meditation in the bath can work wonders in tuning into what’s happening in our own body.

“The baseline for the soul is the body, so if we can connect with that, it's a very good place. It's not always comfortable, you know? Sometimes we come back to the body and it's like, ‘Oh my God, I'm angry’.”

EVERYONE IS DEALING WITH SOMETHING

Alana’s work is beloved worldwide, from Jennifer Aniston and Gisele Bündchen to Oprah and Jessica Alba; and she remains, in many ways, Australia’s best-kept secret. Yet for Alana, fame has never been the point – what matters most is the inner life we’re all quietly navigating, regardless of status or success.

“Sometimes people in positions of celebrity can have a lot of power in certain ways. But in other ways, they're just like the rest of us dealing with anxiety or stress or fear or loss – all of the things that we deal with,” she says.

“One of the things that has brought me great peace over the years is to understand this idea that we all have different inheritances that we're coming into the world with.

“So comparing yourself to someone else, it just hurts your mind or builds arrogance, and both of those things are not so great, they'll just steal your peace of mind.

“Especially for younger generations these days, where maybe some of the values they've inherited are not particularly honouring of individuality, just recognising you don't need comparison.

You're enough.
Your journey is unique.

”And everyone, from the most famous person, to the person you've never heard of before, has something really precious and valuable going on in their inner life.”

2026: ThE beginning OF A NEW CYCLE

Numerically speaking, 2026 is a one year (because 2+0+2+6=10 and then 1+0=1) and the beginning of a new nine-year cycle.

“Through 2025 (a nine year), we were clearing a lot of old stuff, a lot of karmic patterns,” she says.

“Sometimes things get pretty rough when that's happening, it can feel like things are getting a little bit worse or more intense. I call it the death throes of the stuff that we were working on, and it puts up a bit of a fight.

“But as we're moving into 2026, there is this sense of a new threshold and a completely new cycle.”

Alana reveals that there are two things in particular we need to know about 2026 – one thing to be mindful of and one thing to be excited about.

“The thing to be mindful of is ‘light blindness’. You know, when a baby's born, they can't see straight away,” she says.

“When we're stepping into a new cycle, we don't always have full clarity about what's possible. We can recognise there may be this period of being a bit disoriented about what do we want our goals to be? What is this year for us like individually? How do we want to move forward? What matters? So there can be that period of time where we're just like, ‘I don't freaking know’.

“And then the thing to be excited about with a one year and the new cycle is that we get to plant seeds and it's like the soil's been freshly tilled. All the shit from the year before was fertilised. We get to plant these new seeds and have a sense of what we want to bring forth.

“Even if we don't know the whole picture, we will know enough about what has value for us, what we kind of want to bring into our lives and amplify through the cycle.”

Pluto in Aquarius

For the next couple of decades, Pluto will move through Aquarius – a slow moving, relentless force meeting an astrological sign associated with humanity, fairness, justice, and the deconstructing systems of power that strip responsibility and freedom from the collective.

“This is not about sitting on a particular political spectrum, it's actually about a spiritual change that is wanting to bring forth an evolution of humanity. So for us as human beings, we're kind of in the cosmic ripening fire,” she says.

How do I want to show up as a human being?
What does that mean for me?
How do I feel about AI?
How do I feel about technology?
Do I value the body with virtual reality?
What's the difference between that and me actually feeling something?

“It's not to turn away from that new technology, for example, but just to have this sense of, Can I use my intuition, and my feeling, and my sense of authenticity, and value, and embodiment to approach it with wisdom? What would that look like? How do I navigate breaks from technology?

“Also using it in a way that feels good and educates me, with discernment and wisdom. So it's a very open slather, creative canvas that we have before us and we get to choose what we want to do with it – which I think is really exciting.”
